About this role
Head of Operations
We are seeking a dynamic and seasoned executive leader within the life sciences industry to serve as Head of Operations at a leading biotech company in South San Francisco, CA.
Responsibilities
- Provide full ownership of manufacturing, quality systems, supply chain, tech transfer, and facilities.
- Drive operational performance (on-time delivery, COGS, product quality, safety) to meet company objectives and enable scaling for complex product launches.
- Oversee enterprise cost structure, capital allocation, and disciplined resource management.
- Report operational performance at the Board level and represent operations externally to investors or strategic partners as needed.
- Operate as a peer to the CEO and other executive leadership team members.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a lean, high-performing team (8-10 direct/indirect reports).
- Foster cross-functional alignment with Commercial, Finance, and R&D to support company growth and strategic goals.
- Support product scale-up, tech transfer, and continuous improvement across all operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in biotech, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing, including significant time as Head of Operations, VP, COO, or equivalent.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in either multifluidics platform manufacturing OR advanced supply chain operations.
- Proven track record scaling operations for new product introductions and reporting to board-level or external audiences.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, regulatory compliance, and capital/resource allocation.
- Experience succeeding in lean, fast-moving environments.
- Outstanding leadership, communication, and cross-functional partnership skills.
Compensation
- Salary: $275,000 – $300,000
