Reports To: Assistant Transportation Manager – Traffic
Wage Range: $17.15-$25.73 per hour, plus bonus opportunity
As a Freight Specialist, you will provide support to the Traffic Department in coordination with outside resources to improve profitability and service to our customers.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Communicate via email, company-specific portals, and telephone.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to invoice custom haul activities completed by the DTI Fleet.
- Collect bills of lading, lumper receipts, rate sheets, and other required documentation.
- Enter, update, and validate accurate data within operating systems.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Maintain contact with contracted brokers.
- Work on various assigned projects to help monitor costs and improve service.
- Apply lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the position.
- Maintain timely and professional communication with customer contacts regarding issues that impact service and overall performance.
YOU MUST HAVE
- High School diploma, General Equivalency Degree, or relevant work experience
- Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with both internal and external customers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
YOU MAY ALSO HAVE
- Experience working in both team and independent settings
- Effective organizational skills
- Skills to be successful in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
ROLE SPECIFICS
- Schedule: Full Time – Monday through Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
