    About this role

    Location: Mt. Sterling, IL

    Department: Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI)

    Reports To: Assistant Transportation Manager – Traffic

    Wage Range: $17.15-$25.73 per hour, plus bonus opportunity

    As a Freight Specialist, you will provide support to the Traffic Department in coordination with outside resources to improve profitability and service to our customers.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Communicate via email, company-specific portals, and telephone.
    • Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to invoice custom haul activities completed by the DTI Fleet.
    • Collect bills of lading, lumper receipts, rate sheets, and other required documentation.
    • Enter, update, and validate accurate data within operating systems.
    • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
    • Maintain contact with contracted brokers.
    • Work on various assigned projects to help monitor costs and improve service.
    • Apply lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the position.
    • Maintain timely and professional communication with customer contacts regarding issues that impact service and overall performance.

    YOU MUST HAVE

    • High School diploma, General Equivalency Degree, or relevant work experience
    • Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work well with both internal and external customers
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

    YOU MAY ALSO HAVE

    • Experience working in both team and independent settings
    • Effective organizational skills
    • Skills to be successful in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines

    ROLE SPECIFICS

    • Schedule: Full Time – Monday through Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
