Choose a load board by the job: find freight, source trucks, or post loads

Load boards make posted freight or available trucks searchable. For carriers, the main use is finding freight for a truck and workday. Brokers post loads and locate capacity; shippers can expose a move to carriers outside their contracted network. A listing is a lead to confirm, not a booked shipment.

Carrier search: compare the listings and tools that matter to your lanes

DAT One offers load search, broker postings, and capacity search for carriers and brokers through its load boards. Truckstop’s load board similarly supports searching freight and posting loads. 123Loadboard’s search page describes equipment-specific truckload, partial, and hot-shot searches plus a Trip Builder for backhaul planning. TruckLoads by Trucker Path lets users connect a Truckstop account to bring Truckstop premium loads into its search, as shown on the TruckLoads product page. Broker sourcing: post the load, search trucks, and move to booking

DAT describes alerts for matching truck searches and lets brokers expose a load to carriers; Truckstop provides broker and shipper load posting. 123Loadboard also lets brokers post freight and search for trucks; its Truck Locator page describes truck search around posted loads. DAT and Parade have a specific digital connection: synchronized loads posted through Parade can become bookable by carriers on the DAT marketplace, according to DAT’s partnership announcement. A brokerage using that workflow can connect internal capacity matching with public carrier discovery.

Shippers: use public posting within tender and qualification rules

Shipper teams can use postings to find additional capacity, while retaining control over who may tender, how contracted carriers are prioritized, and who approves a response. For reefer, drayage, hazardous, oversized, or other specialized loads, specify the actual equipment, commodity, facility, and appointment requirements. After a carrier responds, confirm availability, rate and accessorials, and booking through the shipper’s normal process.

Qualification is a separate step

FMCSA’s SAFER Company Snapshot provides public identification and safety-record information for a company lookup. Use it as one item in the carrier review; it does not replace the insurance documents or shipment-specific checks your operation requires.

Does a load board show all available freight?

No. Each service gives access to listings available through its own product and account. Compare the specific lanes, equipment filters, and posting workflow your team uses.

Is a load board the same as a TMS?

No. Load boards help with discovery; a TMS supports transportation planning and execution. Some products connect specific steps, such as DAT marketplace posting through Parade, but the booking and system handoff still depend on the chosen workflow.
